Penny's epiphany

Penny takes good care of Charlotte. She shares her treats with Charlotte (much to our chagrin). She lets her invade her bed, shattering all hope of peaceful sleep without losing clumps of fur. She even keeps her company when Charlotte is locked in her cage for the night.

But Penny may have just realized that Charlotte doesn't seem to know how good she's got it. Eating is always a charade in our house. Penny generally skips breakfast and demands more and more exotic toppings added to her food just to do us the service of balancing her seaweed and sand diet. Charlotte may make fewer demands, but each demand is considerably louder. Such was the case this morning. Charlotte was done with her food and was busy letting everyone in the tri-state region know. Penny came over to scavenge; usually they team up with Charlotte providing food to Penny willingly and unwillingly. But today there was nothing for Penny. Just those puppy-dog eyes looking up at the table. Charlotte was done eating and was on her way for a nap. With an audible sigh, it may have dawned on Penny that while Charlotte had already eaten and was about to get some sleep, she still hadn't received any breakfast offering and was being forced to run around the block. And Charlotte was the one complaining!
